This Shred
Joseph E. Reed
March 19, 2008

Verse 1
I know how you feel now
But how I feel is not allowed
But okay. I'll be okay
I'll breathe in. I'll breathe out

Verse 2
I've let go, cause you said so
You said, "Sorry, no chance, no more."
It's all done. It's all over
There's no way. There's no hope

But even though you say all hope is dead
In my hands I still cling to this shred

Verse 3
I'm cool. I'm all good
You've moved on, guess I should
You have your life, but, what's left of mine?
This faded thread; this sprig of twine

And even though I'm sure all hope is dead
My hands still cling on to this shred

You can go on; be long gone
You can let time take you far from me
And I can get past all we ever might have had
And finally come to see

That surely there's no hope, it all is dead
But why am I still clinging to this shred?
Yeah, I can see that every hope is dead
But still I keep on clinging to this shred.
